Bob offers private in-studio lessons all flat rates of $50 an hour
I was trained like a lot of young musicians, which was learning how to read primarily. Later in my progress I learned that I need to be able to hear what I was looking at. So the past ten years I have developed simple but easy steps to practice that helps me understand what I am listening to but how to read and hear what I am seeing. In school they called this sight singing.
I have found that after all these years my teachers never told me what it was I was playing. How crazy is that. So, I teach and focus on reading and technique, but hearing the music and being able to recognize these sounds and applying music theory to better understanding and comprehending how to make your music into artistic statements.
Anyway, because of my ability on trombone, my teachers focused on reading and playing through the first time. I could play in tune, however it takes a bit more attention to comprehend what we play. The end result is treating music as a beautiful expression which is in the end the art.
